I stumbled across this on Pinterest last week. I absolutely love this quote because it speaks volumes about the power of silence, meditation and yoga.
If you aren't sure what I mean by that, try rolling out of bed first thing in the morning and sitting in compete silence for ten minutes on your yoga mat (or simply on the floor). Ten minutes doesn't sound like a long time, but if you are new this, two minutes in will most likely feel like an eternity. Make sure you are in a comfortable seated position (possibly placing a blanket under your sitx bones for support), eyes closed, drawing your attention inward, and make sure to inhale and exhale through your nose.
Focus on your breath, focus on being in the present and letting all distractive thoughts settle like dust.
Don't check your phone, emails or Instagram likes.
Just wake up, roll out of bed, be still, be silent
...and see what happens!!
Remember that meditation is a practice, and like any sport, it takes.... you guessed it, PRACTICE. So don't give up if you don't fall in love with your first attempts at meditation.
