Our Theme For March: "Dream On"
Below is a GOOGLE TALK with the author himself. This seminar was recorded in October, 2017. I wanted to share this video with you because I think it's a nice way to "wet your appetite" for the book. I know that a lot of you don't like reading or can't find the time to do so..... so sharing this video is a nice way to learn a bit about the book in the event that you can't crack it open for whatever reason. If you can spare 54 minutes while folding laundry or cooking dinner, I think you'll be glad you did. (His incredibly awkward opening is worth the view alone- hilarious!) If you'd like to join our Facebook community, click here. I will be sharing live videos, chapter synopsis and other bits and bobs worth sharing. Our FB group is a hub of education for the busy man, woman, or teen looking for easy to understand information about health and wellbeing on the ready. Enjoy! Erica x I was drawn in by the introduction immediately. I''ll come back and rate it once I finish. I am on part two so far. The introduction alone has already started to change my entire outlook on life and THINGS!! Highly recommend it and I haven't even finished it yet! Already halfway done, and LOVING this book to bits. so far . . . Just hired this from the library and I'm going to start it this weekend.
It is a highly referenced text in prenatal yoga teacher training and I'm excited to read it from front to back to help build my confidence for the upcoming birth. Rating: 4/5 This book was unlike anything I've ever read before. It was full of research that had been collected over decades, and for that reason I did have to take my time reading it. All the case studies were fascinating and I reread many sections to make sure I had fully grasped the concepts. I loved how the book outlined different parenting concepts from all over the world, particularly Europe, the USA and Africa. This was a Christmas gift from my dad, and I'm so glad he got it for me because I wouldn't normally grab such a scientific book off the bat.
Starting this today!
Per usual, I will come back on here and give it a rating once I finish it! So far, so good.... Started reading this book, but I've only made a very small dent so far. I'm excited to finish my parenting books and then get stuck into this little number once I return home to Melbourne and need to put my feet up for a few hours a day. Update 29/1 : I read this book in five days, it was such a page turner. I really enjoyed the story, the poetic language and getting lost in some fiction for a change. Rating: 4/5 I'm halfway through reading this compilation of essays from humorous women and it's really entertaining. I appreciate the different writing styles and subject matter immensely. I'm excited to read the rest of the series. (Non-Fiction) Final verdict, 3.5/5 My friend Rachel lent me this book, and I'm so glad she did. I'm only 1/18th of the way through realistically, but it's so insightful and the information is presented in a very non-threading way that isn't fear based. I am thrilled to be reading it now, before the baby comes, rather than frantically trying to make time to read or hunt for dog-eared pages with the information later. (Parenting) Also, a read in progress!
Kaz's book is broken down into weeks of gestation. Each week I read a chapter and then I eagerly wait until the following Wednesday (when I advance another week in my pregnancy), to read more. Kaz is VERY honest, humorous and doesn't hold punches when it come to the not so glamorous aspects of pregnancy. She also presents information in a productive manner without instilling fear into the reader. (Parenting) Final Verdict: 5/5 Also, this makes a great gift for an expectant, first time mother! Rating: 4/5 Quirky book, very unique to anything I've read before. I loved the story telling aspects and watching the tales unfold. I would love to meet the man who inspired the Ove character. . (FICTION) Rating: 4/5 I'm re-reading this book because it is simply wonderful and Jenny Lawson's self-deprecating humor is highly addictive. (Non-Fiction) I just started this book and it's excellent so far.
The Glass Castle is one of the best books I've ever read, so I had to buy anything else penned by Jeannette Walls. (Non-fiction) Rating: 5/5 Rating: 5/5 Loved everything about this book. It's all about where ideas come from and nurturing our creative sides. It was such an inspirational read. It changed my life, and that's no exaggeration. (Non Fiction/Self Help) Rating: 5/5
This booked is so emotionally charged since you already know the fate of the author before reading the first page. I loved reading this book because it was so well written and philosophical without being too dense to comprehend. I was super emotional when I finished reading it on a flight. Tears and all. I lend this book to everyone I can, but I encore you to buy if it you've been meaning to read it because the royalties go to the author's family. (Non Fiction) What at are you reading? Any recommendations for me? |
