Well shucks, fancy seeing you here.
I'd like to think you are here to learn more about the power of yoga, low-tox living, healthy recipes, surviving motherhood .... or, maybe you're just here to see who the heck I am and what I'm all about. I'm Erica and I was born and raised in Northern California. My family and I were a stones throw from the ocean, the forest and the mountains. To this day I love getting lost in Nature, figuratively of course, and I thank my lucky stars that I grew up in the Golden State. I attended Saint Mary's College in the sleepy town of Moraga where I got my BA in English. I played rugby for two and half years and studied around in Paris, London, Rome and Italy. |
After graduation I landed my first real big girl job, and in my free time I studied to get my TEFL/TESL certificate. I wanted to travel the world and teach English, so I left the USA in the fall of 2007 and I haven't looked back since!
I've lived in seven counties since 2007, and I've visited over twenty one. I have a serious infatuation with wanderlust, which lucky for me, I was able to indulge in head first because my husband is a professional basketball player that has to travel for his job. We've been married since 2010 and he is the peanut butta to my jelly. We have two small children, and another on the way, due March 2021! I blog about
AND WHAT ABOUT YOGA
So, where does the yoga play a part? In my late teens, my mind was constantly on loop, planning and preparing my future. I was never in the present, never in the here and now because I was too consumed by the "what ifs" and the "what nexts." I decided to give yoga a whirl, thinking it might be a bandaid, a quick fix to help distract me from the chaos ensuing in my mind. I was a student at the time and couldn't afford fancy classes or posh fitness clubs, so I attended community classes that were donation based. Thankfully, a small spark of intrigue was ignited all that time ago it's yet to extinguish. For years I dabbled in yoga when I had access to good, safe classes (note: NEVER take yoga in the Ukraine!), but as I reached my late twenties I finally surrendered myself over the practice and found a mentor who encouraged me to get my yoga certification. I will forever be indebted to her for doing so as it changed my life drastically. I placed myself under a magnifying glass, under extreme scrutiny and shined the bright light of yoga into all my dark places.

I became a RYT certified yoga instructor in San Francisco, the yoga capital of the USA. Yoga has helped cure me of numerous ailments, especially IBS and anxiety. I'm a happier, healthier human being because of yoga. I want my students to feel the same way, liberated, clear headed, and also free from pain whether it be physical or emotional. I want my students to leave class with a sense of accomplishment and I also want them to treat their bodies like temples. Yoga isn't just about the asanas and the cool inversions that litter social media. I expect a lot from my students, and I hope they expect a lot from me as well.
My classes are alignment based with a large focus on linking the breath with movement. You can do anything for a breath, and my hope is that people will carve time out of their days to simply be, breathe, and possibly make it to a yoga class.
In a nutshell, I just wanna make the world a better place, one asana at a time.
Thanks for stopping by!
